Local Cafes You Should Try in the Lake George Area
There is nothing better than starting your day with a good breakfast or baked treat and a cup of caffeine. When traveling, my friends and I usually open Yelp and Google and search for the best local shops. Over the past few years, while working at Stone Gate, I have tried several of them in the Lake George area, and these are some of my favorites (in no particular order).
Caffé Vero | 253 Canada St, Lake George, NY 12845
Caffe Vero has it all. Whether you are looking for a quick-to-go item or a sit-down breakfast with some good coffee, this place is for you. You order at the counter and then find a seat if you are staying to eat. They move quickly, so it’s usually not a problem finding a spot, but keep in mind their location in the Village makes them quite popular. If you’re in town for the week, I suggest you try to go on a weekday.
I have enjoyed many things here, including their bagels, omelets, and the pancakes are a hit for my little one. They have a variety of baked goods, breakfast entrees, café drinks, and alcoholic drinks. If you enjoy their coffee, you can buy some to take home as my friend did; ground or whole beans are available in different roasts.
Bear’s Cup | 4973 Lake Shore Dr Suite 3, Bolton Landing, NY 12814
Bear’s Cup is my aunt’s go-to coffee shop to start her day when she visits, but it’s also probably because they also have some excellent baked goods. After some bagels and breakfast sandwiches, we always return with a box of goodies. Some of our favorites include bear’s claws, chocolate croissants, cookies, and muffins. Bear’s Cup is very popular, so prepare to wait in line. If there is something you are looking forward to trying, I suggest you go early because they often run out of the most popular items.
Cool Beans | 80 Quaker Rd, Queensbury, NY 12804
From the moment you step into Cool Beans, you get the feeling that it will be good. Chalkboard menus are in abundance, above and behind the counter, listing food options from breakfast to lunch, smoothies, and more. We ordered two variations of breakfast sandwiches and were not disappointed.
They have a coffee bar that offers a variety of coffee to try, each with a short description of the flavor profile and caffeine levels. My friend had a good time trying each of the flavors, trying to pick which one was best for them. The staff is friendly and has that homey feel to it. Everything here is reasonably priced, but make sure you bring your cash with you!
Lox of Bagels | 89 Main St, Queensbury, NY 12804
Lox of Bagels is the furthest of these, but a must-try. Its location is right off the Northway, making it a perfect place to eat on our way to Saratoga for a fun day exploring. It seemed to be more of a place the locals go, but that’s why you should make the drive! There is usually a line, but it moves quickly.
They have so many options for bagel flavors, and if you’re a big fan of flavored cream cheese, this may be your new favorite place. They have many unique cream cheese flavors like olive, cheddar, and dill pickle, along with numerous favorites like strawberry, chive, and classic. Surprise – I got a breakfast sandwich on the bagel… Okay, so that is usually my go-to breakfast item, but it was so tasty! They also have other breakfast items, deli sandwiches, salads, and baked goods.
I love good bagels and bakery items! If you do to make sure to check these places out. I hope you get the opportunity to try at least one of these on your next trip to Lake George and let us know if you like them too.
