If you are visiting Lake George for Memorial Day Weekend, we have put together local observances and events to help celebrate and honor those who gave their lives to protect and serve our country.
Hague Memorial Day Celebration: Parade and FunFest
Come out and enjoy the Town of Hague from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 28. Penelope The Clown, Crafters, Jewelry, Spices, White Elephant, Games For The Whole Family, Bouncy House, Food Concessions by the Hague Fish & Game Club. Food options will include hot dogs, burgers, and soft drinks. An additional food vendor will be offering funnel cakes and fried bread dough. Caricature artist Phil Singer will be available from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and a live concert will happen at 12:30 pm. The parade will begin at 2:00 pm and feature bands, floats, clowns, classic cars, etc. There will be a Memorial Dedication Service at Hague Town Park following the parade. The Hague Fire Department’s Chicken BBQ will take place after the parade. More information here.
Fort Ticonderoga Memorial Day Weekend Celebration
Head to Fort Ticonderoga to pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in service to their country during the American Revolution. During this weekend-long commemoration, discover the story of the American Army in 1777 and how it rebuilt itself at Ticonderoga to defend liberty during living history programs and demonstrations such as military drills, historic trades, and fatigue duties such as carpentry.
Enjoy narrated scenic boat tours aboard the Carillon and sail the same shores of Lake Champlain that American soldiers and sailors did in 1777. An entire line-up of activities and programs offered throughout the weekend includes daily tours, historic trades programs, ongoing living history programs, weapons demonstrations, etc. A 10% general admissions discount will be given to active-duty military members with proof of service for this special weekend-long event. Ballston Spa Memorial Day Parade
The Ballston Spa Memorial Day Parade will be held Saturday, May 28th. It will step off from Ocean State Job Lots parking lot at 9:00 AM. The Naval ceremony will take place on the bridge by JJ’s Snack Bar. The parade will go through town to the Veteran’s Park, which is by the Library.
Memorial Day Celebration Ceremony at Battlefield Park
The Lake George Memorial Day ceremony at Battlefield Park, Fort George Road, begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 30th, to honor the four unknown soldiers of the Battle of Lake George in 1755. There will be a musket salute to the fallen heroes at the end of the ceremony. Please join the soldiers from the Fort at Battlefield Park, along with the Fort George Alliance and many other local groups.
After the ceremony, return to Fort William Henry to learn more about the French & Indian War and see a musket and cannon demonstration.
Live Music
Kick-off your weekend with two nights of live music this Memorial Day weekend in beautiful Lake George, NY. The Twiddle & Friends Memorial Meltdown will feature two sets of Twiddle each night on Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29, at Charles R. Wood Park.
