Accessible Activities in Lake George: A Guide for All Visitors
At Stone Gate Resort, we understand the importance of accessible travel and believe everyone should be able to enjoy the beauty of Lake George. While our resort currently does not offer ADA-compliant rooms, we want to make it easier for all visitors to experience the accessible attractions, activities, and dining options that our area has to offer. From scenic tours to barrier-free parks and trails, there are many options for those with mobility needs or who require ADA-friendly facilities.
1. Lake George Steamboat Company

The iconic Lake George Steamboat Company offers a scenic way to enjoy the lake from the comfort of a fully accessible boat. The company’s flagship, the Minne-Ha-Ha, is equipped with ramps, an accessible restroom, and a lift to the upper decks. Passengers can enjoy views of the Adirondack Mountains, the lake’s islands, and a bit of local history, making this a relaxing way to experience Lake George. You can also choose a dinner cruise aboard the Luc du Saint Sacrement that has the same accessible features as the Minnie-Ha-Ha.
2. Million Dollar Beach

Million Dollar Beach is one of Lake George’s most popular public beaches, and it offers accessible features to ensure everyone can enjoy a day by the water. The beach has a designated accessible pathway to the shoreline, accessible restrooms, and parking. They also have a beach wheelchair that is available on a first-come, first-served basis when lifeguards are on duty. Spend the day relaxing on the sand, enjoying a picnic, or watching the waves.
3. Fort William Henry Museum

For history enthusiasts, the Fort William Henry Museum offers a deep dive into the region’s 18th-century military history, with accommodations for guests with accessibility needs. The main museum building is wheelchair accessible, and the outdoor tour spaces have ramps and paths designed for ease of movement. Guided tours, interactive displays, and historical re-enactments make this a fascinating stop for anyone curious about local history.
4. Accessible Parks and Trails

While many of the Adirondack trails are rugged, Lake George has some accessible trails and park areas ideal for those with limited mobility:
- Lake George Battlefield Park: This historic park has paved walking areas and accessible paths that offer views of the lake and interpretive signs detailing the area’s military history.
- Warren County Bikeway: Most of the Warren County Bikeway is paved and for non-motorized vehicle use. The trail is 9.4 miles long beginning in Lake George Battlefield State Park and ending in Glens Falls. The trail does intersect with some local roads, sharing the shoulder where a separate trail wasn’t possible.
- Shepard Park: Located in the heart of Lake George Village, Shepard Park has paved walkways, an accessible amphitheater, and beautiful lake views. The park hosts frequent outdoor concerts, festivals, and events, making it an enjoyable place to visit in any season.
- The Sembrich: Although not a local park, The Sembrich Museum in Bolton Landing also has a nature preserve with a main trail that is accessible and brings you to a scenic viewpoint.
5. Accessible Parking and Transportation Options
Lake George Village has designated accessible parking areas throughout town and offers accessible public transportation options for visitors. Trolleys and shuttles with ADA accommodations run between major points of interest, making it easy to navigate Lake George without a car.
