Holiday Guide: Fourth of July

Looking to have a fantastic Fourth of July vacation? Well, Lake George has plenty of activities within the area to make your trip jam-packed with fun! From fireworks to live music and food trucks, you’re sure to find something that piques your interest. Here are just some of the events going on that weekend to kickstart your planning for a perfect weekend.

Reading of the Declaration of Independence

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the history of the holiday, Fort William Henry, located in the heart of Lake George, is doing a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Readings are twice a day at 11am and 1pm on Saturday, July 3rd, and Sunday, July 4th.

Fireworks, Sparklers, Glow Sticks

Since fireworks are a staple of celebrating national holidays such as Independence Day, Lake George will be putting on a brilliant Fireworks display at 9:30pm on Sunday, July 4th. We recommend watching the presentation at Shepard Park, Million Dollar Beach, Fort William Henry, or downtown Lake George on the strip to get the best view!

Fireworks aren’t the only way to make your Fourth of July weekend glow; Grab some sparklers and glow sticks for the kids to play with and bring the excitement of fireworks right to you!

Water Activities

Enjoy the beautiful lake with some adventures on the water. Kayaks and Paddleboards are always a fun time, no matter the age. You can book a boat tour ranging from 1-3 hours or rent kayaks and paddleboards for the whole family right on the property with White Whale Boats & Tours. Spending the day at the beach, fishing, or lounging by the pool are also great ways to enjoy the water and soak up the sun!

Rodeo

Looking for an exciting night at the rodeo, then you’re in luck because the Painted Pony Rodeo is having its opening night on Friday, July 2nd! The rodeo is equipped with rodeo clowns, animals, cowboys, bull riding, barrel racing, a delicious buffet, and so much more!

Live Music

Fridays at the Lake Concert Series are hosted throughout the summer at Shepard Park in downtown Lake George from 5-10pm, where attendees can enjoy food, drinks, and live music. Also available on Fridays at the Lake are face painting, airbrush tattoos, and bounce houses for children.

There’s also an outdoor concert in Glens Falls at Crandall Park where “Let’s Be Leonard,” a rock ‘n roll group from Saratoga Springs, on July 2nd as part of the free Summer Concert Series every Friday by The Park Theater.

Fun at the Resort

One of our favorite ways to celebrate the Fourth of July has always been having a nice cookout with family and friends followed by a campfire with s’mores. Don’t hesitate to follow my lead and have a BBQ at the resort and then end the night off with a campfire, smores, and some quality time at one of our fire pits!
